So the story goes, over the past 12 months emy has raised 2 clutches and did very well. I know have a BIG problem. Trevor (emy's other half) past away yesterday, (cancer I think), vet couldn't do anything about it. She was pining for him last night but seemed to calm down after an hour or so and resigned herself to her nestbox. She ate well this morning, appeared quite well and up to her usual tricks. I came home tonight to find her on the floor breathing heavily with her back end up and tail resting on the floor. I took her out and found the following protrusion from what I beilieve is her vent though I may be wrong. I have handled her with great care incase she has an egg (which I think she does) inside. The protruding object appears to be an internal part that has "popped" out much like a hernia of some sort. Please help, I'm in a mad panic now after losing Trevor I don't think I could bear losing her aswell, not so soon after Trevor. Thanks in advance people. Sorry if these pics aren't good enough, let me know and I'll try again, she's a good squirmer is our emy.

I possibly could get her to a vet but my week has gone from bad to worse and I'm fresh out of money at the moment. Some vets can be frightening on what they charge - moreso after hours than in daytime. There is a vet in ammanford town or I could go to Swansea. The normal vet I use is Mark down in Valley Vets in Cardiff - he's brilliant with birds but is not available after hours.
What or who could you advise would be the best choice?

just rang a local vet and it gives an out of hours number for VetsNow in swansea, £90 consultation fee + any treatment now i'm panicking even more. she looks very distressed and now and again by the look of it she's trying to lay it but getting nowhere. Is there anything I can do to help her or does it have to be a vet. I can take her straight down if needs be.

You've done well. Egg binding is a real emergency that needs to be treated pronto. Hope it all works out okay for you two.
