Does anyone use a water spray on their little feathered friends? A book I have says they love a little spray of water, but I am not sure whether to try this or not so would like to hear your experience first.

Some birds dont mind it some birds do, but in my experience people tend to spray their birds if they dont voluntarily go for a bath. Plus, it is always good to give them a light misting when they are going through a moult as their pinnies are encased in sheath that is tough to break through so dampening helps the feathers to come out. Hope that helps

I have done mine a couple of times, they didn't go a bundle on it, but hopefully it helped their pinnies when they were moulting.

Munchy prefers to get into a bowl of water, but will only do this when it's really warm and sunny. He dislikes water falling on him, but I hear some like it. Some prefer to rub against large wet leaves instead If it does them good then that's what matters, and it's even better when they have the possibility to preen each other and help remove the waxy covering from the pin feathers, which should be softened by the water.

I do spray mine in the summer months and they look at me as much to say "whats your problem lady" then sit preening in disgust, they much prefer a bath but only the girls, the boys stand by and watch, ive never seen my boys take a bath but the girls are straight in , speaks for itself really ;D.

I mist mine occasionally. Smudge doesn't get in and have a bath, and being mostly white ends up looking a bit grubby around the face (tail too, but the bath only makes that worse! ;D). If they get into a dish of water, I leave them be, but sometimes it is so hot inside I take them out early and will them give them a cooling down. Just make sure their seed doesn't get wet.

Mine hates the spray bottle, but he gets it anyway! He flies up and down the house like a rocket and screams blue murder. I like to think he's secretly enjoying it, but that may be wishful thinking. I tell him that if he doesn't have a bath voluntarily, mamma's gonna get out the spray.
