He's enjoying his millet. That's a good sign. Hope Beau is feeling better soon.

Is that staining I can see above his nostrils, Rachael? Maybe he has a respiratory infection?

Is that staining I can see above his nostrils, Rachael? Maybe he has a respiratory infection? I wondered if anyone would spot that, I don't think that it is as it only developed after I started giving him the guardian angel, I think its stained his feathers. I'm going to try to get him to have a bath today though, so I'll see if it goes x

I hope the bath cleaned him up, Rachel? Tell him he is supposed to drink the .GA, not snort it!

Well this is day four of him being on antibiotics and he doesn't seem to be getting better at all I've just given him another warm bath which he wasn't happy about and it did clean up his butt a little but not properly. I just don't know what to do to help him. I've also noticed that when he is sat on my hand he leans to the right and he doesn't grip properly with his left foot. Could these be signs of a stroke? I hate to see him suffering like this, he has barely any energy, the only time he seems more alert is when he is sat on my finger and i am taking to him.

Poor Beau, something has happened- you may be right about a stroke though I've only seen it in our dog, and that was leaning to the side like she was dizzy- don't know if it would be the same for a budgie. Are you booked back in at the vet? Fingers crossed for you and little Beau and lets hope its not a stroke or anything else serious for that matter xx

Sorry to hear about beau, he's a stunner! What did your vet say? He hasn't actually been yet, I got the baytril from a friend of a breeder but if he isn't any better by Monday then I'm making him an appointment. Its weird because he doesn't seem to get any better or any worse, its a strange one this, something I've never seen before.

Poor Beau. My thoughts are with you, Rachael. I hope the vet can put a finger on the cause.

The symptoms you describe are common to most complaints that budgies can get. The two most common causes are either intestinal worms or a chill.
If it is worms the some sort of worm treatment is necessary.
If the bird has caught a chill warmth and TLC should cure it

Sorry for the delay on replying but Beau passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning. I wish I'd done more for him but at least he is at peace now and no longer in pain. x
