I thought this story was quite amazing.............
Last week whilst Andy and I were on holiday near Portsmouth, we listened to the local news on the television one evening and heard an interesting story about a budgie. It seemed that one had escaped from an aviary and the owner thought he would never see it again.
However, little did he know that about three miles off the coast, some unusual movements in the sea caught the eye of some people in a boat. They went closer to see what it was, thinking it was a seagull or something like that, and saw it was a budgie, exhausted but still flapping weakly to stay above water.
They rescued it and using the information from the ring tag on his leg, were able to reunite him with his thankful owner, where it made a full recovery.
It made me think about what had happened to that bird, that after flying the wrong way for so long over the sea, rather than the land where it would have been much safer, it finally got so exhausted that it couldn’t fly anymore and ended up in the water where it continued to struggle weakly. That bird was so small and in such a vast ocean of water, that it was a miracle that someone even saw it and was able to rescue it.
