So sorry to hear about your budgie's ill health. May I suggest you show us a photo of your Blueberry's tumour? An avian vet should be giving you the correct diagnosis, but it is always helpful to get other considered opinions. Unfortunately tumours and budgies are rather common, and also unfortunately there isn't anything we can do about them. Surgery isn't an option ......... the only thing that may help is if there is a lot of fluid around the tumour ..... this can be drained ...... but I think this is really only of help if the tumour is internal and pressing on vital organs. It isn't always an good way to go either, as I found out the hard way, as the bird can find itself replacing the fluid at a very rapid rate, which drains what little reserves their little bodies have. May I ask where abouts you are?

Im afraid there isn't much you can do, im sorry to say this, it sounds awful . You just have to watch him and make sure he isn't in any discomfort. If he is eating and seems happy enough let him be. Sometimes they can go on for some time with them and they seemingly don't bother them. One of mine had one on her chest so she could get to it and started to pick at it which made it bleed so i knew i couldn't let her go on that way and did the kindest thing and had her pts. You will know when the time is right to do the right thing for him . I am sorry.

I am a sorry too, but unfortunately what Skysmum has said is true. There is little you can do but look after him and lots of love. I too have suffered the trauma of a budge with a tumour.

These lumps may or may not be tumors.
Some lumps are areas of tissue that have become swollen and inflamed by bacterial infections.
Some are actually large deposits of fat that are beneath the skin
Many are just cysts that can be drained
If it is a confirmed Benign tumors they tend to stay in one location and do not spread to other areas, these are slow growing and can be removed succesfully.
Malignant tumors can invade and damage nearby tissues and organs and like all cancers can be tough to treat , more so in a budgerigar.
What next; lots of TLC for both you and your bird, my thoughts are with you both

I can only repeat, make the most of the time you have. Value every moment, but sincerely you and Blueberry have a lot of time together yet.

So sorry to hear about your budgie :-( Its impossible to know what form tumours will take and the speed they will grow, but to try and give you some optimism I can tell you that Freddie my budgie diagnosed with a tumour more than 2 years ago is still alive and kicking and flying around with his children in the aviary. I hope you and Blueberry have the same luck as Freddie and me x

He has been checked out, Donna, that's what has diagnosed the problem. Good luck, Blukiwi.
