Eww i wouldn't, but i do know someone who bought one like this for £30 and stripped it back to the metal, treated it and re sprayed it. It looked beautiful when he had finished it but i think you have to know what you are doing and make sure the rust hasn't gone right through. Needless to say he had to wait quite a while before putting birds in it.

Reminds me of a young opaline sky blue I saw at the pet shop I avoid in the market (there are two and the other one is great, lots of healthy, energetic birds, owner knows what he's talking about and really cares, the other one is hardly open, hardly has any animals and the few times they have budgies, they are in tiny cages...). Anyway, this budgie was in one of these tiny cages. It said "Take me home today with setup for £25". Well, no sensible person would keep the bird in that cage! It was barely suitable for quarantine! The metal was nowhere near clean! I hope whoever bought it rehoused it in a nice cage where it could flap its wings or an aviary.
The poor thing was so quiet, there by himself, but when I can over and started blinking at him and talking softly, he began to preen himself as if he wanted to look good at tweeted a bit. I felt sorry for him, he was such a cutie. But I would have barely been able to keep that poor little bird in the cage even just for quarantine!

Just wondering id its the same pet shop in cardiff I went in with my friend , they had a leapord gecko in the most appaling condition it was half dead and not even kept in the right husbandry . I posted about it on the reptile forum and someone who lived close by was going to go in there the following day. They must have reported it because when we Went to that area in october and found the shop had closed down
Think it was called pets r us or something like that ?

I vaguely remember hearing about that store. But no, these two are stalls in the market in the city centre. Luckily I don't think the bad one gets much custom. Their rabbits and guinea pigs look fine, but once I saw 5 young budgies in two of these tiny, dirty cages. It made their feathers look dirty and they weren't very chirpy and active.
