........... For our birds ......... On my early morning walks with Mac-the-mutt, I scan the neighbourhoodfor fresh seeding grasses. At the moment, being the time of year it is, the birdies are spoilt for choice, and I often come home with five or more different types. This morning I feel I went above and beyond the call of duty, as unbeknown to me, one of the grasses had sliced my finger open and I bled like a stuck pig!!!!!! All over me, my clothes and the grass - no wonder Mac liked me! ;D It was still dark so I didn't notice until I got back home. I think tomorrow I might just take a pair of scissors with me - the thing has annoyed me all day. I am sure there are more silly stories out there of what you have gotten up to, to do something for the birds. And I am not talking money spent - we have to sometimes, but rather the things we have done, or made others do, for the sake of the budgies.

For the last two or three summers (May till October inclusive), the boyz had me out just about every office lunchtime scanning the surrounding fields for fresh grass.
However, now they have been declared officially fat by the avian vet, they're not going to get so much of it this year!

How long you got ;D Put the saw through my thumb making new perches Ventured into the loft don't like heights ) to get fine mesh fire guard for open fire place so that Inca didn't end up going up the chimney. Dug out my stainless steel frying pan instead of Teflon one. Carted a nine draw unit down from upstairs, on my own bit by bit, in readyment for second cage. And that's just been the last week. Waiting for the men in white coats to knock at the door

Skysmum, I did put the pruning saw through my fingernail a few months ago - it has only been grown out for about a month.

Begging the market stall-holder for one tiny carrot top. Looking for the broccoli head with the most leaves on it. Importing a liver detox from US to help Bluey when he was sick. Going back to the park with my pruning saw to get the right piece to make the tree stand - with the sweat pouring off me and the council workers having their morning break right there! @ Sam. I am sure Monty appreciated her sprouts. D'you mean brussel sprouts? In which case I can totally understand why you only bought two. ;D

I like sprouts! I didn't know the budgies could eat them though... I might give it a go! When I first got Bubbles and only had her I let her out for about the second time and she wouldn't go home. She spent the night on her cage roof and I spent the night on the hard tiled floor- not sleeping- just watching to make sure she was ok! What if she'd fallen or tried to get in and hurt herself? Some say I was mad and should've gone to bed but I know you all understand!
