Buds has had them on rare occasions. They're often on the outside of the bread I buy. I think the only issue with them is that they are fattening. So in moderation and not a regular thing. And you'll need to crush them too.

My first thought was that they would be too big for a budgie to get into. Do yours husk their own sunflower seeds, Skysmum? I assume you give them some of yours which are already husked ......... does the same apply to the pumpkin seeds? If they are husked already, I'd be with Stace on this - give as a treat occasionally.

Yes Hezz the sunflower seeds are husked and i think i will have to break up the pumpkin seeds. I'll give it a try just for a treat, have to say i didn't quite realise how fattening they were . I eat them co's im a bit low on magnesium, prob got high colesterol now .

But you are not a budgie (are you? ?) so different inner workings And I don't think nuts/seeds would raise cholesterol ....... I think you would be alright.

I have been thinking about pumpkin seeds too skysmum. I've just bought a few packets (no a lot actually ) of mixed seeds, they're a breakfast omega sprinkle, for our parrot and he won't eat them apart from the sunflower seeds!! I thought I'd got a bargain with buy one get one for a penny haha. So I was wondering if the budgies would be ok to eat them just for an occasional treat. They're sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, brown linseed, golden linseed, and sesame seeds. I'm not keen myself on seeds (apart from sesame seeds) even though they're very good for you. I think sesame seeds are high in magnesium so would be good for you skysmum!!
