Hello, I need some help with diamond dove genetic. On this picture is one white male, he is father of those 3 silver doves, also on picture. Person who sell them to me, chose to keep father (white one). My wish is to get white offspring. In gene pool I have 2 hens and one male of that white bird. Also, availiable, non related, birds are red, normal, silver and blue pied. Can anyone suggest how to proceed to get white bird in few generations, if it is possible on firs place? image hosting sites

Don't know that you are going to get a lot of feedback from our members regarding your question. Not sure many of us know much about diamond doves. Pretty birds, though.

The birds in the picture look absolutely stunning! Although I breed diamond doves, I don't think I'm of much help.
I breed standard silver doves, and unexpectedly bred 2 albinos, which were not as white as the one in the picture. One died as a young bird, the other lived a few years but never bred. He kept flying into things (I think he had poor vision) and appeared of poor health.
I'm not sure whether New Zealand has the varieties you are talking about. I have certainly never seen them, although have heard of their existence. Nice to see a picture!

Thank you for responding to my question. Yes, people told me that albinos have fragile health. But, from my opinion, most of those people breed them to close in blood line. Same thing told me about albino budgies, guess what? I establish 4 different blood lines, and there is absolutely no problems with health, blindness or bad feather with offspring. That is for pet budgies, but for show budgies, I cant find proper birds in my neighborhood to start blood line in first place.

How do you breed them and how is the setup like? Do you have any pictures? The birds in the picture look absolutely stunning! Although I breed diamond doves, I don't think I'm of much help. I breed standard silver doves, and unexpectedly bred 2 albinos, which were not as white as the one in the picture. One died as a young bird, the other lived a few years but never bred. I have 2 aviaries with budgies, diamond doves and Chinese button quails happily living together. The aviaries are large and I have one pair of doves in each aviary. I can post a picture if you like.

Yes, I'm colony breeding as in my opinion this is more natural, although it has it's obvious disadvantages. I've made pictures and will post these once I've figured out how to use Photobucket again (the link in "create post" appears to have disappeared?)
I've got to help remove some trees, so we can move an old Bedford bus in!

The bus died halfway up the paddock so I'm having a break as it is being fixed. Here are the pictures, hope it works: Breeding diamond doves Two neighbouring aviaries with diamond doves in corner Comfortably together!
