Well I've had cedric now 2 weeks this Saturday and he won't eat any of the fresh foods I give him. hes had kale, mixed leafy salad, sweetcorn, chopped carrot, banana, apple, pear, blueberries and all have gone untouched. so do I just keep offering it to him? He has his seed mixture which he eats and can be seen nomming on it throughout the day.
thanks amy

Try giving it to him in other ways. I used to chop a mixture of veggies (apple, carrot, basil etc) up in really small bits and sprinkle seed on the top. Cedric might start getting an accidental taste and decide he likes it.
Or. Try threading thin slices on a skewer, so it's bit like a toy.

I do chop it small and have been placing on the floor though. Do you think if I put it in his seed pot would that be best?
I have also put banana through the bars near his perches and kale.

I haven't known a budgie to like banana. If you're to try to tempt him with some seed on it, you'll need to put it in a pot or container. However, If you sprinkle seed on his veggies, you have to remember to throw it all out after a few hours.

My budgies have never been terribly interested in food in a bowl. They much prefer their veggies hung off the roof or sides of the cage, but before this how about trying to get Cedric eating with you? Cut yourself some thin slices of carrot (with a veggie peeler is good for starters), have Cedric close, and munch on the carrot yourself, offer him some (not the same piece ) and keep eating yours. Sometimes this works where nothing else does. Also try offering him to just one thing - carrot for a few days, maybe corn a few days later. You may be giving him sensory overload plying him with too many things at once.

Well yesterday I did him some tiny bits of broccoli and blueberries. I chopped it up small and put in his seed pot. He flew down to it and picked up the broccoli and threw it on the floor as if to say I don't want that in there! think he had some of the chopped blueberries. hes not quite that tame to sit with me and eat just yet. hes started venturing out on his own when the doors open. He likes looking down at the hamster and rats from his cage door he's very nosey! Will try him with kale tonight see how he likes that in his seed pot.

Aww, he sounds really sweet. Hob wouldn't eat anything except lettuce when we first got him. I tried all sorts but he was scared of everything. Then I realised that he didn't like chunks even if chopped small, so now I slice everything in very thin leaf like slices and he is much better with that (although he doesn't trust coloured food like carrot yet, so far only green leaves or anything light coloured like apple or melon). I don't put it in a dish (tried that but he wasn't interested) so would put one slice (or one leaf) at a time through the bars of his cage and secure it with a clothes peg near his perch and leave it there for a while. That worked for us. Good luck, I am sure with time he will realise how delicious all these things are
