Yes I kept a close eye on him and it seems like that one was it. He's still very quiet and not very active (it hasn't changed since I bought him). I have tried to introduce him to veggies but no luck so far, so all he ate yesterday was seed and millet. However I changed his perches yesterday that caused him to be stressed and flap about in the cage and it was shortly after that I notice that he had poo stuck. Could it be just stress? d

Quite often it will simply be a poo stuck to a feather, end of story. Often it will fall off itself when having a fly around, or if it is worrying you, catch him up and gently remove it. If it is well stuck, you may need to moisten some cotton balls or similar and gently soak it off. One lump is generally not a concern. It is when there starts to be a build-up that you can start to worry. Bubs - I agree with Hezz here. I had the same problem with Oscar, sometimes it builds up a bit, but I just pick him up to find it is several poo's stuck to a feather, and just pull it off gently. It only happens occasionally now. Have had some warm water and cotton wool ready in case it was really stuck. It's just something I keep an eye on now and as I said, it doesn't happen very often. Also, could you leave a radio on when you are not there to give your buddie a bit more company.

Lol I'm trying to learn so much about budgies from this forum I guess I have become a bit overprotective lately. The reason why I wanted a malebird was because I wanted to see the different behaviours (even though it differs from bird to bird despite gender). Toni is easier because she is so active all the time, even though I haven't had Charlie for long it makes it harder to see how he feels when all he does seem to be eat and sleep :s

I do hope he perks up and it is just about being in a new place. I guess it must be pretty scary for them to suddenly have a new home. It definitely sounds like you are doing everything just right.

It can take a bird a week or two to settle in properly, in spit of everything you do to help him feel at home. He may simply be a more nervy creature. I am sure once he has birdie company he will feel more at home ....... so patience is needed by everyone. Stress can cause all sorts of poo issues. One of mine, I've had nearly 6 months now, still gets the runs when I take her off on her own for some one-on-one time.
