Yesterday Cheeky Charlie arrived here full of beans and chirping away happily.
I put him in a separate room for quarantine - the same room Woody has been in but cleaned thoroughly and have been really careful about keeping everything separate.
I spent most of the day in that room with him and I noticed this afternoon he was a bit fluffed up and sleepy. I checked out with Don, who has been keeping him since the Social Work Dept handed him in, whether this is normal for him. Don said not, and advised a drop of Baytril and the heat lamp.
What is going on? I am hoping it is just the stress of the moves for Cheeky Charlie but I am beginning to doubt myself. And - I am wondering if I imagining this - but I am feeling slightly chesty myself. Could I be brewing up something? I don't normally have any problems of this sort.
This is a bit of a nightmare.
Any pointers welcome.

Whatever it is, it isn't going to be you passing something on. You wouldn't have used any powerful cleaners in where Woody was and Charlie is? Budgies can be very sensitive to things in the air hence no air fresheners, scented candles and the like. Maybe an air purifier in the room would be of help. I am taking stabs in the dark here, birlguhl, I really have no clue.

It won't be you giving him anything. Maybe it's just readjusting to a new place. Keep him extra toasty and watch him and his poops closely to be sure. Fingers crossed that it's nothing.

Sometimes new birds do get a little "sick looking" when they have arrived at a new location, have you got any guardian angel? Just as a precaution as it is good for birds if they are stressed from a move. And agree with Stace, keep him extra warm too

Thanks for responses, folks. I THINK C is a little brighter this morning. But my heart sank when I saw some distinct tail bobbing going on. Could this fit with the initial "sick looking" effect or is this always a more sinister indication?
I am going to set up some video surveillance this pm and see how he goes. I can hear him chirping away when I am out of the room so I am wondering if my being there most of yesterday functioned as an added stressor.
Meanwhile captive Woody seems to be doing well. He is eating a lot and a good range of things which is reassuring. I am hoping when I next get him on the scales he will have gained a few grams.
