We had one fly out onto the road in front of us in rural NZ. Of course it is pretty heavily settled so never too far from a house, but still......wasn't quite the bird-life we were expecting!!! One cold night, Brian, and Peko will be happy to go home I'm sure! You see quite a few peacocks in NZ. I never see them here in Australia. Not sure why. Maybe it's too hot. Perhaps you don't have any Stace,as you say could be too hot

Gorgeous bird, wonder where it came from? People don't keep them as pets do they? No Luke, it's from a large house in the area, they just roam around the estate looking spectacular and open their plumage once in a while to make you gasp, this one has been here 3 nights now

The Peacock can represent spring, birth, new growth, longevity, and love. It is a good omen, signaling prestige, success and contentment in relationships and careers. Alternatively, The Peacock's habit of strutting and displaying the beauty of it's feathers, is also a symbol of worldly pride and vanity. The Peacock is known as the bird with one hundred eyes. The eye-like patterns in it's tail represent the stars, the universe, the sun, the moon, and the "vault of heaven.".............. Some usless information for you.............

Wow. Isn't he handsome. What a magnificent beast. They used to roam free through large properties in my hometown, Nelson, in NZ. I have vague childhood memories of when peacock feathers were an essential interior decorating item.

Perhaps you don't have any Stace,as you say could be too hot You maybe don't see them roaming, but they certainly can live in Auss. A resort I stayed ages ago used to have them wandering the place. I think they are over-rated, beautiful but noisy brutes! Also one of the properties near where I grew up (someone trying to behave like landed gentry) had a few, but in the end I think something had them for dinner.

There are quite a few people in NZ who live like landed gentry. (And some of them sort of are, I suppose, many generations back.) That would explain it.
