Great story, Nat. Amid the struggles with illness, it is good to hear stories of survival and recovery and new life.

Hoe amazing that he survived and is doing so well, an inspiration for others to keep hope!

I just dunno how he does it. So many times when he was really sick and on antibiotics constantly, I've left for work at 5 am thinking when I get home its going to be an awful vets trip for him to be pts. I get home at 1pm and hes ok again! I wish I could find the pic of his first chest tumour. It was enourmous and he'd worried about it so much he plucked it bare and stopped eating. I should probably stop calling him Fredster and start calling him Sir Freddie lol :-D

Sad they lost one of the family, but lovely to see them all grown up and doing so well.

His first tumour! I guess it must have been benign as it disappeared but it was very scary at the time! In the first pic Freddie was so concerned he kept trying to show me it and plucked it. He spent alot of time living outside the aviary in the birdroom as a free bird and then he realised some benefits to his predicament such as alot of millet spray which is never fed in the aviary as so many fat hens at that time! Then he stopped plucking it and it continued to grow (2nd pic)

OMG, that's incredible that it just went from there, i took my little Ginny to the vet with one like this about 4 years ago, she was picking it and it kept bleeding, he said there was nothing they could do and said i should have her PTS, which i did , i always think i should have waited but felt compelled to take his advice. I would think twice next time. The Fredster should be knighted for sure, Arise Sir Fred, the miracle bud .

Aw thats terribly sad Skysmum :-( I do wonder sometimes at vets advice Since having Freddie I have learned to wait till the budgie is on the floor before taking them in for the pts bit. So many times I booked him in early in the morning to find him ok later! But these tumours are all different so perhaps your vet saw something he/she had experience from before. Having said that he was ok the other day, hes started sqeaking again at night so its obviously still there. Usually letting him have time out of the aviary to rest in the does the trick as its just the squeak that keeps him awake so he gets so tired bless him. Still the best flier in the aviary though ;-)
