Hi. Can anyone tell me what variety the budgie in the 1st pic is? I thought it was a light green opaline spangle. It was mated with a grey hen, and produced 3 x grey green, 3 x opaline grey green and the two in the 2nd image, which i thought were a light green opaline spangle and a grey green spangle to the rear. The 3rd image is of the latest chick from this cock and a light blue hen. It looks to me like a light green greywing. Which i suppose would mean the cock is not a spangle? Help please! Just previewed this, and i can only place 1 image at a time, so i will post with the cock 1st. Attachments:

Thanks for that very quick reply. This next image is of the latest chick. The body colour, and tail featers are coming through light green, but as you can see, the feathers on the wing look grey. Cheers Attachments:

So the cock is "Light green opaline spangle".
You said the hen is grey. Can you share the picture of the hen too?
Do you know the genetics of the cock and hen. I mean what are they split for?

The Hen is light blue. She is not split for anything. Last mating was with a dark green cock, which produce 11 cobalts. The previouse hen mated with this cock was grey.

The cock is opaline spangle light green. He will only pass the spangle gene on to half of his chicks and the opaline will only be visible in his daughters unless his mate is also opaline.
To produce a male greywing chick as he has done proves that both he and his mate are split for greywing. The greywing gene would not have shown in previous matings because for a recessive mutation like greywing to show it must be present in both parents
The greywing chick must be male because if it was female it would be visual opaline

Thanks everyone. Nev. The Cock came from Lincoln, and i don't know his history, but the hen came fom round the corner, and the owner specialises in clearwings, and i'm sure he has some greywings, so i'm sure your explanation is correct. Many thanks again everyone.
