Are you suggesting that all good mums look this scary Not at all, BB, but all good mums can get pretty scary if their off-spring are in any way threatened!!! I bet your mum is the same. You are definitely talking about my mom

I am soooooooo tempted to let her be a mum BB! I wish there was somebody nice like you nearby to give a pair of chicks to. I would even tame them first if there was to be a good pet owner come up :-) This hen so wants to be a mummy! Thanks Nat Come on guys, especially ones with aviaries, it's a very generous offer from a animal lover person

Having put the feelers out locally yesterday evening I had response from 2 people who were after celestials :-) One who'd like a pair as pets not breeders and not tame, and one who'd like a single tame bird. So against my better judgement I have left todays freshly laid egg in! I'm pretty sure they will be fertile from the state of Juliets bald head from all the jiggying! So maximum eggs allowed is 3 :-) If I don't take in any more rehome budgies for a while I have a nice big flight cage empty waiting for chicks. Now to do some homework on celestial chick rearing. I have a funny feeling I read before that its best to pull them a bit early as parents can be highly aggressive towards fledging chicks!

Best of luck It will be a good idea to make a breeding thread about them in other birds section

I love these little birds and was so close to buying one a few years ago, however when the guy placed one on my hand he gave such a bite that i will NEVER forget it . Needles to say once the chap had prized him off my finger he was very apologetic, and i decided i wasn't quite ready for one . Im sure they arn't all like that though .

Lol Skysmum :)I know that bite all too well! Luckily for me now, and unluckily for Juliet, I have to trim her beak very often so it has a fairly blunt tip even though I try and shape if for her, so shes pretty much given up biting me as shes learnt it doesn't work any more I would be tempted to have a couple in the livingroom if it wasn't for the macaws. I think the macs would pester them

Why not just let them breed? Surely you'd have no trouble selling or giving away the offspring.

I'm fussy about where they will go. I've sold and given chicks away in the past to what are great homes at the time, but sadly people are prone to losing interest in them for whatever reason and either sell them on which I can't argue with, but unfortunately I have found a couple of neglect incidents too :-(
