I'm so happy my buds are now enjoying fresh foods,I suppose its since sky came along and she is such a confident budgie in regards trying new foods so its led to cedric tasting and getting stuck in. tonight we are enjoying baby sweetcorn, celery and leafy salad leaves. they seem to like apple but that's about it with fruit.
anyway pointless thread but I thought I'd share. Ill try and get pics at some point of them scoffing.

Not a pointless thread at all! I have been really pleased too when the buds take to something new and healthy. The first time mine got red pepper they were onto it within minutes and demolished it. i was really surprised as they are normally very wary of anything unfamiliar. I will find a pic of orange faces at some point.
Do you find, though, that they will eat something and obviously enjoy it and then not be so keen the next time they are offered it? It is annoying because before I got wise to this I would rush out and get more and then just find it untouched at the end of the day. I wondered if they have a kind of built in mechanism which guides them to eat different things rather than the same thing over and over again.
The thing I am most pleased about with mine, though, is that three of them (not Charlie yet) are eating pellets from an upright dispenser. This is important because today the vet told me that they should really only get a amount of seeds that is the size of 5 sunflower seeds per day. That is not very much. Despite the pellet breakthrough they are still getting a lot more (germinated) seeds than that, so behaviour modification continues.
I have just ordered a fruit skewer from Northern Parrots along with another bag of Harrisons superfine.

My bird likes one vegetable one day, but not the next. I think it's a common thing.

Is it a good idea to chop it tiny in the food processors? Mine just throw it out the bowl and get in the bowl.

Sky gets a lovely green beard after eating basil or other green foods.
They love carrot too, I've ordered a new bowl from zooplus amongst other toys and play gym so fingers crossed it comes Comes soon! £25 worth of stuff so lets hope they make use of it all. Saying that sky is so funny how she climbs and hangs upside down we call her the monkey bird.

So glad for you they are eating fresh food. That zooplus can be addictive, especially as free postage limit is £19 (or something like that) so every time I go on there I think what the heck, might as well order up to free postage. Hope they enjoy their goodies!

My bird likes one vegetable one day, but not the next. I think it's a common thing. Lol, mine are much the same :-) Give them carrot one day and then the next day have a bit more time on my hands so spend ages grating up different veg for them to make a beautiful veggie feast they say...'on no, we had carrot yesterday so can't possibly eat that broccoli and corn as now its touching nasty carrot which will poison us! ' Glad your Buds are enjoying the finer foods in life now Blade :-) I love how they like to watch another budgie eat it first and then if it doesn't drop down dead they consider the food ok to eat lol. This is what my old hahns macaw does with the young hahns. She tests absolutely everything, he gives it a few minutes watching her, if shes ok he'll have a go at the food too lol. Natural instinct at its best :-)
