Hello, I am new to the forum and hoping for a bit of advice. I have almost got my small aviary finished and just looking to buy the welded mesh. I have read about the galvanised mesh being toxic and needs cleaning with vinegar, but what if I was to buy the green pvc coated galvanized mesh? As anyone else used this?

I would think the birds would chew the plastic off.

I would think the birds would chew the plastic off. I'm pretty sure you're right about that. Mine would love it!

I think you will find stainless steel will cost a bomb but I might be wrong. I guess it depends how much you need. I don't know if you think this might be suitable: Supapets - Wire Meshand hope I'm allowed to post a commercial link. I'm considering placing an order as I need a good few metres for a new flight too.

Vinegar does the trick as some members have already tried it.
Bird safe mesh is also available, depending upon the location.

I just brushed my aviary mesh with vinegar when I had finished building it!!! I've emailed the supplier whose link I posted to ask their advice as I intend / hope to buy my mesh from them soon. If painting with vinegar is all it takes that sounds easy enough - big tub of vinegar and a large new paint brush. I'd be happy to give it a couple of coats as it should dry quickly ona warm day. Chips anyone?

I used a dust pan brush, I think you have to water the vinegar down.........once it has tried you then wash it down....I used a hose!!!

That sounds even easier! Trust me to faff about with paint brushes when there's a quicker way.
