i have a 5 week old baby budgie in the nest who has been acting strange today, not acting like the others he not wanting any food and is not very active just sitting there in the corner, what can i do to help it?

It could be that the parents are withholding food to encourage him into feeding himself at this stage and he might be getting weak and dehydrated if this is the case. You could take him out and try dunking his beak in a shallow water bowl to encourage him to drink. Also add some millet spray into the nestbox if you haven't already done so as its easier for chicks to dehusk. Failing that you could place him on the cage floor with millet spray broken into small pieces and some sweetcorn which he'll find easier to eat and he'll get some water content from the sweetcorn. Then pop him back in the box once hes eaten some. It might be difficult to handfeed him at this stage but it could be worth a try feeding some damp eggfood on the edge of a spoon. Appologies if you've tried all this anyway. I hope it is just the parents forcing him to feed himself and not actually a sick chick thing.
