How old are the chick?
Some of my cocks like to feed the chicks and stop hens from doing so, but they are never violent.

8 eggs and eldest chick is 16 days old, so I assume that all eggs have hatched.
If this is the case, than you can remove the cock from the breeding cage and the hen will raise the chicks. Provide her with some soft food and put some millet sprays in the nest box.
You can also foster out a few chicks if you have another breeding pair.
