Please can anyone advise me: What have / would you use to colour aviary frames made from tanalised timber?
I thought I had some Cuprinol but when I found it it was a can of Sadolin Quick drying woodstain.
Cuprinol help line suggest I dash out and buy a pot of garden shades but I think there might be little difference between this and Sadolin.
Help please. Paint brush at the ready!

Sorry, Learner, I am of no help to you whatsoever. Google may be your friend here, unless someone familiar with these products pops up.

Being short of spare time I decided to belt on the bike to B&Q.... returned home with a pot of Garden Shades - Terracotta. Not my 1st colour choice but they had little in stock. (normal) Lifted the lid with paint-brush in hand to find the reddish brown I had hoped for was very, very red. Return cycle trip to B&Q straight away. (Getting fit slowly) Chose again... this time "Matured Oak" as my wife said blue would not be a good choice and I should get something 'natural' looking. "Matured Oak" looks good - matches in reasonably well with the old shed. It's water based, shouldn't flake or chip so no nibbling the surface and getting beaks full of something I'd rather they didn't eat. The wood is planed so few edges to get hold of. Here's hoping.

My forays to the hardware store often seem to involve multiple trips, incorrect advice and product selection, and many pots and tubes of inappropriate colour, texture or quality for the job at hand.

For a change I decided to buy the smaller can rather than the larger one. There was just £6 difference in the cost.(My wife wasn't with me this time but I could imagine her reaction... another huge can full?..... not that I'm blaming her for my choice.) I usually end up buying too much and the unused paint sits around for years in the garage then makes its way to the tip. Needless to say I've almost used the whole can and may well need to buy another. Should I go for the smaller can again or the larger? Dilemas all the way.
Meanwhile my son tells me he paid the same amount and bought a different make but nearly three times as much in quantity.

Ah, well. S#@* happens. But that's the price you pay (ha, ha) for using your local. The ones further away are always the cheaper.

This is very true... unfortunately with bicycle in "full-power ahead" mode I only just had time to make it to B & Thingie and back (x2). The luxury of flitting about isn't mine apart from on a very small scale (a mile each way). Healthy pedalling though (Apparently I'm putting on weight!!...In my defence: I don't get out much these days.)

Pedal-power will help keep the weight down, and a little healthy, hefty lifting will be good for you too. Don't let Sonny-Jim do all the heavy stuff.
