I brought a outside the the cage seed feeder because Winnie always sat in the cup style and pooped in it. Plus Ernest was to heavy and clumsy to land on the ones with a plastic perch on them seeds all over the place. As for water I got a hamster bottle the type with the ball in the end. Is this any good ? I got it because I have hard water and it was hard to clean the other one out and the clip using it everyday broke and Winnie would always put her foot in the water ?? Seems more hygienic ? But will ty know how to drink from it or should I provide water in a d cup till they do ?

Take them to the sipper part, pop the valve a few times so there is a drip or two hanging off so they know that there is water. If either is a curious bird, they may bob it with their beak to try it out. That would be the easiest and best solution. You may have to try a few times to get them to understand what they are supposed to do. I have to warn you though ........ I have one of these and have had for about two years now, and after all this time I still can't get Smudge anywhere close to it. She actively backs away from it every time I bring it close to her, still. So I still have to provide a water fountain for her. The other two drink out of either.
