I am looking for members' recommendations for the highest quality pure seed mix available (in UK). The one I have been using (Mayfield) seems good in terms of freshness (as measured by proportion of seeds which germinate) BUT it has vegetable oil in it and having a budgie with a very high cholesterol level and fatty liver disease I am concerned about this. Or is this normal for seed mixes? As far as I can see there is no organic option available in the UK. Or does anyone know otherwise? The mix has to have only seeds which will germinate as I don't feed dry seed - so this rules out Trill. I have found SupaClean on Birdcare Company website whcih looks like a good candidate. www.birdcareco.com/bcc-catalog/united-kingdom/supaclean-budgerigar-mix Also, what is best practice on how long to keep seed for? I could get a 5kg bag but it will take my four budgies a long time to get through this. Does anyone freeze seeds? I would appreciate any guidance or suggestions. Thanks!

As a rule I don't freeze my seed, Birdguhl, but I have on occasions gotten some with bugs, so have frozen this to kill off the gremlins. Can't answer your other questions, though, sorry.
