Hello, I joined the forum last month when my aged budgie Misty wasn't very well & I was worried he had Teflon poisoning. You were all so welcoming & helpful & were able to reassure me that it wasn't that from his symptoms. He was almost 15 & plodded on until May 10th when he passed away peacefully. He's been such a faithful friend to me all these years, I am housebound & stuck in bed much of the time due to longterm illness & he's been with me throughout my toughest, illness years so I was heartbroken. For the last 3 weeks all he wanted to do was lie on my chest fast asleep, those weeks were so special. We've buried him with a silver tinged plant on top - he was a grey budgie so it's perfect for him! Anyway, I'm beginning to adjust to life without Mist though it's so hard & I'm going to get another one soon, maybe this week. It will be strange having a new fellow but it will be something positive to focus on. I thought it was more than about time I did a proper introduction! (I live in Cumbria & am 35). Best wishes, Amy

Hello Amy welcome to the forum and I'm sorry for your loss. It sounds like Mist was very loved and gave you so many happy years as I am sure you did for him. I'm glad you came back and told us what happened and I'm sure a new bud will bring you lots of joy too. Sorry to hear you have health problems.

Hi Amy,
So sorry to hear about Misty's passing but it sounded like it was a good one for you both. What a long and special relationship you had together.
Are you feeling a bit excited about embarking on another budgie friendship? We look forward to hearing about it...

Hello Amy. Misty was a wonderful friend to you. So sorry for your loss. Many of us here form deep and special bonds with our birds and they become very much a part of our families, our flocks. Misty lived to ripe old age for a budgie. You are very blessed in that.

Hi and welcome (again), Amy. So sorry you lost Misty in the end, but it definitely sounds like he had a lovely and happy life with you. I can imagine how much you treasured his company, especially towards the end, and I think it is lovely you are contemplating another feathered friend.

Thank you all, yes I feel so blessed to have had Misty for so long & we were able to give him the best death if such a thing is possible. I'm thankful for that, we were able to say our goodbyes & that means a lot. I am excited about having a new feathered friend although I still miss Misty terribly. I think you all 'get' what I mean as you all seem to be as devoted to budgies as me! They're all so different in their personalities as well as looks (although they *all* seem a bit bonkers but in a very good way!). Bye for now Amy x

Our friends always break our hearts when they go to the millet field in the sky but they leave such treasured memories
