My lil ones don't use the bottom half of the cage at all any ideas I would 50% is not used I don't put toys down there as things get poo on lol is it just one of them things? I also have dogs who don't touch but will watch so not sure putting anything far down would be the best. But less face it they could not wanna sit that low down anyway !

I think some just don't like going down the bottom. Daley does but that's because he has a Vision cage that has the food bowls down the bottom (they have poo guards!).

Rocky has a few natural perches and his feeding platform low down and although he def spends more time up high he def uses the lower ones too. Rocky has a perch play ring which encouraged him to use his low perch: www.pine4parrots.co.uk/Pages/TOYSextrasmall.aspx

My guys use all of their cage - I spread things about so twigs, grasses, fresh food etc are all over the place, not positioned right beside the top perches. They have to move around to get what they want.

I will try spreading it out. They still sleep on the highest point. It was trail to see if Ernest could move around better. I have ordered bigger feeding platform so he has more to land on lol

Mine also prefer the top, but if there are interesting things at the bottom they will venture down. For Hob this means a mirror, and for Millie it is her chube. I just had to find the things that motivate them. I could put a bazillion toys down there and hob wouldn't care, but once the mirror went down so did he

Same for mine in the Aviary, they have to work for what they want. Try not to overcrowd the top, spread it all very thinly around offering good things hear and there closer to the bottom. Ive recently started using bird sand on the floor in one half of my inside flight and they love it and are often found mooching around on the bottom. How about putting a shallow dish of bird sand on the bottom of the cage.

Oh, forgot to say, about the poop. As long as you place things strategically they should stay relatively poop free. This has taken us some time to figure out as mine to be able to poop diagonally too but some places are better poop free zones than others.

The poop zones are easily avoided with a little care and attention. And every budgie is going to want to sleep as high as possible; it's the in-between times we need to get them moving around.

Getting him moving about the cage is a great thing to be doing (or trying, anyway).
