I have started sorting out and planning my season ahead my plan is to pair up 24 pairs during the season ( not all at once I dont expect on past experience that every pair will do the business but thanks to 4 people (Barrie Shutt included ) I intend to give it a good go managed to thin the birds down they were far too heavy .The cages are all ready to go , probably too many cocks on the place but tehre we go wish you all a successfull season

i have, this weekend separated my cocks from hens to break any unwanted bonds, I intend pairing up at the end of November (only 6 or 7 pairs) I have decided on 3 pairings but still undecided on a few others. My only worry is ,they are in tip top condition and raring to go at the moment ,I just hope they stay good for the next month. Is there any chance the hens could go out of condition by then? i will post pics of intended pairs soon

So you never know Good idea of sharing pictures. A few close ups of the ceres too. It will tell if they are going into condition or they are there already.

By the way, don't forget to start a blog or breeding journal when you put up your pairs

Breeding in the winter is no good, summer is better naturally warm, longer hours. by breeding in the winter your using artificial lighting and heating, puts the birds out of sync, birds need rest and need the natural dark nights that winter brings.
