Psittacosis is a pneumonia in humans. You'll know if you have it as you'll feel terrible with painful breathing, shortness of breath and one can cough up blood.

Not necessarily, it starts off with flu like symptoms and people have been known to get over it themselves, only when it is left untreated in someone whose body is not fighting it off does it tend to go to pneumonia type symptoms. It's more dangerous to the young, eldery and immune compromised. OP - if your vet doesn't want to do the blood test then send off the for the kit and do it yourself: www.avianbiotech.co.uk/disease_testing.aspit's very easy to do and you don't need much blood at all. Alternativly you could call around other local vets if there any and ask them if they could do the test for you? If you can find one who tests inhouse it would be better as you would get the results back quickly. Pity your not near me, my vet does it in house and I get results same day normally for Psittacosis.

Going to be doing Veterinary Nursing lol, just had a LOT of experience with Psittacosis this year with the three rescued parrots I took on. Not a nice disease to deal with. I wish my doctors knew about Psittacosis, had to go through a couple to finally get antibiotics for it after explaining to them due to my joint condition I wouldn't know if I had Psittacosis as I have joint pain, fatigue, migraines, chest pains, breathlessness etc every day! In the end they gave my antibiotics and a chest xray

Been to the vets and he is happy to get me the samples if I order the kit. Work has spoken to the budgie breeder and its not climida they have its some sort of yeast that begins with c (can't rember the name). So that's one thing at least. The guy at work also thinks her poops look fine, says he wouldn't be concerned by the wet rings on the paper. What does everyone else think about the pics? No veg was fed just seed, weight has gone down overall but she was fat and it goes down and up.

The yeast is probably Candida sp. PP There are a number of different types, but they require basically the same treatment. Nystatin is the drug of choice. Is your vet going to check Ada for this?

The testing kits have arrived so just got to get samples and send it off. Her vet if fully booked Monday so going to call all the practices he works at to get her in asap.
She is still ok in her self, her poop is looking a better colour but the wet patch around them are bigger again. She does seem to be drinking more reasontly.

She is book in next Monday as I've got to Waite For another swab. Called the lab up as the candida and climida tests both need bum swabs so asked if she could have both tests done on the one swab but they said no they need one for each test and the candida one also needs a throat swab too which I didn't realise. So poor ads will need a throat swab and bum swab for Candida, a bum swab and blood for climida and blood for beak and feather. But the one blood sample can be used for up to 3 tests so thought I might as well have them test the blood for beak and feather too. At a grand total of £39. Just one test with the vets lab was going to be £30+vat!
