Yes, I am like everyone else in rejecting plastic perches for my precious little birdies.
BUT, with the war on protozoal infection underway for now wood is out of favour - as a porous substances these little nasties like to tuck themselves away in there and proliferate. And - boy do I go for wooden perches that must seem like heaven to protozoa - lots of nooks and crannies, loose bits of bark etc etc. Sigh.
But fortunately I have quite a lot of my old plastic ones lurking around and now I am relieved I didn't chuck them.
So, instead of spending the morning studying as planned, I have just re-organised 2 out of W & C's 3 cages and as I type they are now checking out Plastic Planet!!!
So, whilst I VERY MUCH hope this doesn't even happen to your birds, you'll be glad if you've got a stash handy.
