hi
I have 5 breeding pairs of budgies in my free flight aviary. one hen has just laid her second clutch of infertile eggs in the space of a couple of months. ideally i'd like to take them away and give her a rest. the problem is that I have 7 boxes in the aviary so I reckon if I take her box away she'll just move into one of the empty boxes and start laying again.
at the moment I've left her on the infertile eggs just so she doesn't try to lay anymore.
anyone got any thoughts?

Is there any other way that you can separate her and her mate? Like purchasing another cheap, temporary cage that they can stay in until the others have finished breeding? That's really the only idea I can think of.

Take all nests out, let the birds rest in the meantime build breeding cages. Once done, condition your birds for the coming breeding season, than when birds are in prime condition pair them up.
