It is normal An average clutch is 5 eggs but there are variations. I have had hens laying from 1 egg to 11 eggs.

Well candles them there were fertile but addled as the White part was moving inside. I've had trouble sellin chicks ATM so I think I'm gonna block the hole though I think she's got more eggs coming. Will still block it and give her a week or so before putting them back into the aviary.

I wanted to ask same question. My maiden hen laid only two eggs and she is sitting tight.
I will give her full time, and see if they would hatch. if fertile they are due by 11/09/2011.

i think this happened for my hen due to her prev chicks being left in with her 2 long and she couldnt handle them in the nestbox at the same time as the eggs. only reason i worked that out is a few days after removing them she laid an egg on the floor so i opened the box up again to have a last round.

Many pet type hens lay only two eggs. But I have noticed that with better diet, the number can be increased.

Well her first round was fine and she successfully raised 3 chicks. I think she's in-between the 2 types. I just think it was because I left the chicks in to long
