hi. i can not get wood shavings where i live. what is alternate for it ? can i use shreded paper or if any thing better plz recommend. i want the hen to be motivated to stay in nest box for longer or be motivated to breed. both male and female r in breeding condition.

Don't use paper. Some breeders use rolled oats.

Some birds will make their own shavings if you leave soft untreated wood in the nest box. Be careful though that its wood and not board or ply to avoid toxic glue.

Lovebirds make their own nesting material from branches and perches and stuff the nest box very well, whereas budgies don't like nesting materiel but it is required in the nest box.
