Ive been looking at these cages too tinksmum, i often bring my buds in from the aviary in the winter and want to replace one of my cages. Im a bit put of by the clips holding them together. People often remark that they keep popping off, is this a big problem Hagen owners? . Zooplus and seapets are cheaper.

@samwiseg oh i have kept budgies on & off since my very 1st one, Timmy when i was 10yr old, since then ive had, Snowy, Squaddie, Alfie, Ernie & of course Tink who recently passed. Timmy lived to the grand old age of 12yrs on a diet of everything he shouldnt have had including beer, chicken, cider and was even partial to a bath in my bowls of tomato soup! he was such a character! (we werent as educated 30yrs ago!) Other than Tink who was 5.5yrs, I was unlucky with budgies & almost gave up, them lasting only a few years but none were babies when i adopted them, so never knew their exact ages. For my new adopted feathered son, I am researching reputable breeders, in the Swansea area, id like a baby cock, 6-8wks (anything but green/yellow). Even with my two lunatic human kids the house is too quiet. Our home will ALWAYS be a budgie home, until i am popping up the daisies myself. I know the feeling, Helen. After losing Blue to a tumour and then Smudge with her preening gland problem and losing Fluoro way too young, I started to doubt my own right/ability to have and look after these little guys. But I know now I could never be without them. They add so much to the house.

I agree Hezz - once you've had one you could never live without one ever again! As you know, we had one and after she sadly went too young she managed to convince us to have 4 in the future!

Very easy to put together, stunning cage, the only thing im dubious about is the food dishes being so low, but im sure there are ways I can adjust this, the double doors are brilliant and I like the top of the cage being flat, plenty of room to play. Here it is...just need a bird to call it home now!

What is your worry about the food bowls? They work really well, stops the seed from going everywhere. Echo used them straight away, never been a problem.

Joey uses them as well. I have a stainless steel one that fits on the bars. He used it as a toilet!!! One thing I have done is put some Blu Tak in-between the grid and where it sits on the base under the seed pots. Mine doesn't sit flat on the base and makes quite a bit of noise when he jumps down on the grid. I used the blu Tak so the grid will lift out easily and will mould into the Blu Tak when I put it back. That is some beautiful cage, your new budgie/s will love it.

What is your worry about the food bowls? They work really well, stops the seed from going everywhere. Echo used them straight away, never been a problem. I guess its just because im not used to having feeding dishes at the bottom of the cage, although they do have the cool covers to stop any mess contaminating the food/water. My babies are yet to feed in front of me, can they see it?? (silly i know, got to build trust before they will eat & drink in front of me) The white faced baby who is finger tame, ive shown him where it is, so hopefully one will follow the other & they will leave some evidence soon so i know they have eaten. Ive also put some millet in but they have only been seed fed by the breeder (and bread, mummy bird fed bread?) know nothing of breeding! The millet will only be a treat and i will use it to help with the training. Overall i am very impressed with the cage, its very spacious, and i really like the flat 'roof' which will make for an excellent play area once they are allowed out to play! So far no problems with the clips, they clicked in just as the instructions said they would, you have to pull the bars a little to make sure they click, but none have popped off yet. The double door is super duper cool! doors sit flat when opened to the inside, but slant downwards if opened to the outside, but hey presto, 2 pegs linked to eachother & pegged to the underside of the door & we have internal & external landing platforms This is the BEST cage ive ever bought, I love it! and im sure in time, once settled so will our babies. Oh n sorry for the essay!!!

Extremely good value for money this cage was reduced from £89 to £54 plus 10% off as a new customer, I don't know if this is a permanent price or just on offer, as mentioned i purchased from Zooplus on Tuesday evening, it arrived today. x
