She is 7 Hezz. Im a bit concerned about her today tbh as she is still taking herself off to eat grass and make herself sick first thing. She was also very picky with her food this morning, taking just a couple of tentitive mouthfuls and walking away, she never leaves her food. She still enjoyed her walk through the woods but for most of the day she has slept, no more blood though. I decided rightly or wrongly to leave off the anti b's today because i think it may be them making her feel sick, they are human anti b's and i had to sign a paper to give my consent for her to have them, something about them not being registered as veterinary meds, i did ask if i should look out for any side effects and she said, no you shouldn't have a problem . Anyway i shall see how the next 24hrs go and make a call on thing's then. Such a worry.

Forgot to say Hezz, they wanted to put Tilly on Valium some years back to stop her little habit of comfort licking her legs when she is stressed, i declined the offer and went to the pet shop to buy a bitter apple spray, ive only got to get the spray out of the cupboard now and she stops . Makes you wonder doesn't it .

But it is on her collar and gives off a jet each time she barks. So how did you work the spray? Did you spray her legs with it? Sorry for the questions, but Mac is the first dog I have had that has had real issues that we've had to deal with. If this particular one comes up, I'll know how to deal with it. I dearly hope the poor little muttkins is much better tomorrow.

Can I make a tiny suggestion skysmum? Have you ever tried Brewers Yeast? My OH used to regularly show dogs plus worked for the State Veterinary Service. He had a problem with his dogs losing condition (weight) through stress/tension on the way to shows. Then an old timer recommended to him brewers yeast tablets (Vit B complex) and it worked wonders! Dog's were much calmer and thought they were getting a treat every day too! Dead cheap and easy to get hold of too (any chemist or health food shop)

Im happy to report that she seems much brighter today, i have been cooking chicken and rice for her which hasn't touched the sides , im going to wean her back onto her normal diet tomorrow and hope this is an end to it. I know how you feel, ive had dogs all my life and with the exception of a whippet cross that had some issues ive never had such a complex dog like Tilly, i have piles of dog psychology books and still cant figure her out so have decided she is how she is and we work with her issues . Yes you have to be careful not to get it in their eyes but i just spray a little on her legs and its job done, she runs around sneezing for a bit but it works a treat. Just make sure you wash your hands well after, i got a little taste once , not good .

samwiseg, are they called vitB tabs, brewers yeast tabs or either? Just so I know what I am looking for ...... hate looking for things and not having all the info, and feeling a fool. (That's my little complex .... maybe I should take some too!!!!! ) Thanks, skysmum. I probably wouldn't have thought of this for Mac! He does lose condition very quickly when he stresses (hence the RSPCA visit!). He not only doesn't eat, but he's definitely on the lean side to begin with, so he has no reserves to speak of.

I posed the question of Mac being lean to my OH - and he said he had a problem with a dog that was exactly the same, he wouldn't put on the weight for showing. So, what he did was exercised him MORE so he had more of an appetite. Then when it came to a show, cut down the exercise so he would still eat at the same rate and put the weight on. But I dont' know if this would work in your case Hezz because of his injury? And as for the tablets, they are over here in the UK just called Brewers Yeast tablets

No, he is all over injuries and really in peak condition ........ it is others who think he is "skinny" and I too would like to see his ribs a little more covered. He gets heaps of exercise, but also around the house is a lazy lump ...... he really is my Jeckle and Hyde. Because when I do take him out walking he is such a , never seeming to have gotten the meaning of "heal", I have been taking him to the park on a regular basis and jumping him over the fence (just a post and rail affair) separating the carpark from the park. He seems to be loving it and sails over seemingly without effort, but after half an hour this tires him out much more than the same time walking does. Thanks for the info, Sam ....... I will see what I can do ......

You too! Maybe we have VitB deficient dogs. I must remember to look for them tomorrow. I think you may be on to something there , yep shop day for me tomorrow so will get some and maybe i will take one meself , feel a bit frazzled after this spell with her, today has been her first normal day for two weeks , back on her normal feeding routine and fingers crossed no more firework displays in her tummy, never heard anything like the noise .
