Hi There. My name is Heidi and I got surprised by my husband bringing home Hansel and Gretel about a week ago. It has been many many years since I owned a Budgie! I am still learning about the things I did wrong as a kid! My husband was told that Gretel (green) was a girl and Hansel (blue) a boy. It seems like they are well under 4 months old, but I am not 100% sure. I am not sure about their gender either. Hopefully someone here can tell me if they got it right. (Don't mind the perches! They came with the cage. I have already replaced them with natural wood.)

too cute! from the pic it looks like both boys?
Bailey I was told was 7 weeks when I got him (nearly 4 weeks ago now) but he has less bars on his head.. so I think he is a few weeks older, but still big dark eyes with no iris... cannot remember when that changes age wise

Awww they are babies aren't they! They look roughly 7-8wks to me Well done about changing the perches! Those sandy ones are so sore for budgies feet I dont know why shops sell them I'm afraid jury is out for me as far as the gender of your birdies! Usually I am not that bad but hopefully someone will be able to help you soon, its just to close for me to call!

Welcome to the forum to you & your buds, Hansel & Gretel are beautiful babies, at a guess id also say about 7-8wks (I have a 10wk) as for sex, I have a confused budgie I dont know 100% if she is a he or he is a she! Glad to hear you have removed those sand covers. edit: i notice the rings on their legs the info on that should tell you who the breeder is, maybe you could find a way of contacting if possible?

Even though you have a young couple, I'd say they're gonna turn out to be male and female. I could be wrong though Im not very experienced. Having a couple would be nice though wouldn't it

Lovely to meet you, Hansel and Gretel. They are lovely little babies; you should have not too much trouble training them. I agree with Tinksmum and Sam that they are around 8 weeks old.

I have been quite busy the last week... I do hope Hansel and Gretel are a 'pair'! It would be very sweet I did exchange the plastic perches with natural ones in different sizes and plain wooden ones. The guys are more active now! Don't know if it is the perches, them getting used to their new home ooooooor... us adding another pair into the mix!?!? We went out to get some more perches and better food and came home with Jack and Jill. They are doing well as far as training goes! The kids are working hard on it Looking at the shades of their cute noses I think we might have 3 boys with Green Gretel being the only girl. Well... we will know for sure in a few months! Heidi, if you can get close-up photos without using the flash we can probably have a community educated guess as to what sexes they all are.

Oh what a GORGEOUS little flock! Am most envious of all your babies! (in a nice way of course) They look like they are going to be VERY happy together! Congratulations

Here is a closeup of my littel bunch No flash but artificial light. It is a rainy dark day in Massachusetts. My guess is that they are all boys except Gretel. I hope the pros have a better idea <3
