I love all the suggestions on what to bring to the bathroom If I brought it all, there would be no room for me

Awww that's so sad Hezz Poor little birdies! I stupidly thought they were fancy types of birds that didn't fly. OP, no point in posting pics of the cage now.. but I have a few new ones that I'd like to upload anyway. I may need your helpful assistance again if I still can't manage it lol

Apart from the rust, splendid news all round. You may have also discovered that Melman may have been causing his own bother. Well done for your efforts.

Maybe Marge now has other things to think about, like being out.. she might alter how she is towards Melman...

Thanks OP gutted about the rust but things seem to be working out just fine anyway! I think you're right ffiscool. From Saturday after Marge first left the cage, she has been much more pleasant. It's too much of a coincidence! Plus, Melman has started eating from the other food bowl (two identical bowls and they only ever ate from one!) Marge is quite happy to let him and doesn't bother him while he's eating now. Such big changes in just 3 days.. I really hope it lasts!

re rust etc... I am just looking on Northern parrots to replace some of B's toys. they say their metal fittings are either stainless steel or nickel plated.. presume nickel plated is ok then?
i think there should be outlets in the UK not just US etc that do stainless steel, whereas they seem hard to come by.. Wish I had money to set up my own business and sell them
I am appalled that so many places sell toys with such cheap metals which are hazardous..

Couldn't agree more ffiscool! I seen a link on here last night for something or other and when I looked round the website, I noticed they sold cage fronts for budgie cages. It actually says
"Budgie cage fronts made from strong hard drawn wire, zinc plated for long life with integral doors."
From other threads on here, it seems zinc is poisonous! If I hadn't read about it here, I would have assumed it was safe as its sold for budgies.. Very worrying!!

From what I can find online, it seems nickel is safe.. but I'd wait and get other opinions before ordering. I wouldn't trust online shops to keep Bailey safe!

Well I suppose it might be worth a try! Think I'll email the company selling the cage fronts and let them know its dangerous. At least give them a chance to rectify it.

That's good you got a reply ffiscool! Is there a specific SS toy you're looking for and I'll keep an eye out myself? I can't even find a "contact us" link on the other site
