Hello. We are looking at getting a budgie. I had one when I was growing up so don't know enough about caring for them really as I don't remember much about it. Where should I get one from? Should they have a friend or are they ok on their own? Thank you very much. Emma

You could look for a breeder or a pet shop, a lot of people will say not to get them from a pet shop but every bird iv had has came from a shop and theyve been great birds and tame, just make sure all birds in shop look healthy and happy before you buy 1, if not then try somewhere else. If you are around a lot and they will be getting a lot of company and attention then they can be happy alone. If not then you best getting 2 as budgies are very social animals

Welcome, Emma. If you let us know your location, we may be able to point you in the direction of a reputable breeder in your area. Mostly we encourage people to buy from breeders as most pet shops have no idea what they are doing when it comes to birds, and many keep them in atrocious conditions. If you are serious about getting a budgie, read through the stickies at the top of each section. These will provide you with heaps of info, and then ask away any questions you may still have.
