I heard for the first time Joey making a sound like he was coughing. It was whilst he was having breakfast and just after. He didn't look to be struggling, although he was stretching his neck like he had something stuck. He has stopped now so I thought I would ask, just incase.

This maybe the case of something dry in the throat, like a seed husk. I have spotted a few doing so over the years.

Thank you BudgiesBuddy, I have heard him sneeze many times, but his was the first time I heard this sound from him. It was sort of half sneeze but with a throaty sound. I thought maybe he had something stuck like we do sometimes, as you say a dry husk maybe. I can stop worrying now. Thanks again.

I think so OP - just make sure he is not doing it regularly but wouldn't think cause for concern if it's just a one off. They also sometimes yawn as well when not tired as they need to pop their ears just like us. And also sneeze as BB has mentioned. Curious little buggers aren't they?

Oh! the yawn amuses me. Because I can't see the bottom part of his beak the top part opens like a trap door.

I find the one eye opening at 5.55am on my office days amusing.. know just how he feels! then he yawns, and I find myself apologising for getting him up so early.. I don't even turn the light on straight away as I like to give him a few mins to come to. SPOILT
