hi guys my name is Hamza im not new to bird keeping but i am new to keep parakeets. i have kept finches and diamond doves but nothing more about 2 months ago my next door neighbor moved house and asked me if i wanted her 5 budgies and cockatiel. there are 2 male budgies and 3. At the same time i got a hand-reared cockatiel boy who was meant to be a friend for the girl but i feel so in love with him that he lives in my room and right now is asleep on my shoulder. i have just fallen in love with these bird i have quite a large aviary that they live in. i was thinking about hand rearing some of the chicks but i have read that budgies are very hard to hand rear and are so easy to hand tame that its just not worth it (correct me if im wrong) anyways enough about my birds i will tell u abit about me im 21 years old and live in Drayton (Oxfordshire) i have had bird for about 7 years and my sister had a budgie when i was a child and i will post some photos of the birds later anyways i hope to get to know u all and learn lots regards Hamza

Welcome, Hamza and your many birds too! Sounds like you've got your hands full there!
Re taming - here are quite a few of us on here who wouldn't exactly say this is easy! See 'I lost it' thread for experiences!
Looking forward to hearing more about your birds and pics too.

Hi and welcome. Can I just ask that you don't hand rear any bird. They don't learn how to behave as they aren't taught by their parents. It's like humans that have been raised by dogs/apes, they behave like the surrogate parent. I presume you wont be preening their feathers with your mouth? You can end up with very troubled birds. Birds that pluck or over preen as they are not taught how to clean themselves are just an example.

Hi Hamza and welcome to forum Hand raring is not necessary if we want to do it just for taming the birds. The chicks can be tamed in other ways.
