Good question, Serz, one I would like the answer to as well. All the info says fell the keel-bone - it shouldn't be sharp. I can feel the keel bone on my three, all about the same size and ranging in weight from about 45g to 55g. ??

Another old wives tale is feeling the keel bone , many of our birds are muscular where other are not. The average weight is 42 grams

Barrie, you can't be talking exhibition budgies, surely? And Smudge always used to look bigger than Blue but now she seems to have trimmed down, but still is weighty (lol, the scales don't lie!! , whereas Sparky looks now like Smudge used to, and while I can't get him to stand still for longer than 2 seconds for the scales to give me a good reading, I get fluctuations from 42g to 45g so is probably another few grams heavier than that but he looks bigger than Smudge in the body. They are all the same length approx. We all (should) know that muscle weighs more than fat
