It will not hurt to treat all birds anyway. it is such an easy treatment to administer, and very little chance of overdosing, that if there is the slightest possibility of there being a scaly mites problem, treat all and every bird to be sure. The import will need curative treatment; the others preventive treatment! By the way, the recently bought bird should have been quarantined from your others for just this sort of reason. If scaly face is the only thing the new bird has passed on, consider yourself very lucky. Have a read through this thread to understand why. budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/thread/6794/important-quarantine

How are you going with this Bianca? I hope you have been able to get Ivermactin and all is going well. Treating all birds is a good precaution, and some people repeat this twice a year. I have my birds in an outside aviary so this is especially important as they have contact with wild birds (droppings etc). If the birds have no contact with other birds, are disease free and have previously been treated less frequent may be okay. You can only work forwards from your situation and even though Hezz is right (hindsight is a beautiful thing), treating all birds will deal with the problem of scaly face and potential infection. We are all still learning and this is the beauty of this forum.
