I am going to redecorate my living room very soon and will be using breathease paint as I have asthma. I will be sending my buds to my mums and just wondered how long they will need to be gone for.

Cut an onion in half and place it in the room when your finished painting it helps get rid of the fumes.

Nina, you can bring them back pretty much straight away. I can understand you wanting them out of the room while it is happening, but even the ordinary water-based paints aren't a problem for the birds these days. Mickmay, who was a painter in a previous life, (hello @mickmay), recommends putting a bowl of water in the room - maybe several if the room is big - and the fumes are absorbed into the water. Hope this helps.

I slice onion & put it into a bowl of water, it doesnt get rid of the nasty smell entirely (i struggle with smells re sensitivty) but it absorbs quite a lot of it. I've no idea how it works but it does!
