As we all know Halloween is here and fireworks are everywhere. So my question is do birds get scared like scared enough to hurt themselves by flying into things?

Guess it depends on the birds or the loudness of the fireworks my aviary birds dont seem fased by the fireworks

zebra finches, budgies and a cockatiel and the fireworks are just loud bangs or screams for like 2 seconds each time. although there wasn't as much fireworks as there was the previous years.

My birds have never had an issue with thunderstorms, but I know other members keep some sort of noise already happening for their birds, to lessen the impact of the fireworks. We don't do fireworks in Aus ....... at least not individual ones ......

Well Joey must be the coolest budgie around when it comes to loud noises. He laps it up and joins in with it. I have almost finished hanging a frame and doors for the conservatory. I had to do quite a bit of drilling into brickwork, I offered Joey my ear defenders but he just kept on chirping every time I started the drill. Its little clicks and noises that startle him. The type when the furniture begins to talk and stuff. I don't know about fireworks, I'll let you know after next week.

They are funny eh... I think someone on here said thst in the wild, it's the little noises that do scare them, like a twig breaking and predator approaching. I think they feel safer with lots of noise. Well, I think that's what I read

Now that makes sense to me. As soon as there is the slightest sound he is alert.
