In french people say "merde" instead of good luck. It's kind of like "break a leg", but I'm not sure you have that expression where you live. We're in Quebec so the first time I told my daughter to break a leg before an exam she was a bit insulted. Sounds like you have a plan and that's the essential. Let us know how it all goes.

Break a leg is a superstitious wish in the acting profession, particularly the stage. I'm not sure where it all comes from but it is a kindly wish.

Wishing actors good luck before a performance was considered bad luck, especially on opening night, hence the phrase "break a leg" somehow came about.
And wiki has this to add: " Among professional dancers, the traditional saying is not "break a leg," but "merde"".

Is OH scared of the budgies, too??? I had to contain myself with the range of names you have inflicted over time!! So ...... got Mum lined up to be the mean ogre on Friday? Lol no OH isn't scared of budgies.. YET! But my mum can't help on Friday so he's gonna have to be the mean ogre as even with the cage halved, its too tall for the car!

What a wonderful array of names you have come up with. It's a good job they didn't have to go to school with any of them. Good luck for Friday. I like the way the vet has come up with the exact price to the penny for the job. I don't know what he's so embarrassed about, celebrities have given their children worse names At least they're um.. original? Lol Their price couldn't have been more precise!

lol! it is a lot for the price to do the nails, but when I think how much I paid the other week, for the vet to tell me, yes give B the mite treatment I took with me.. talk about money for old rope! Can you imagine the cost if you hadn't already purchased the mite treatment! I understand, when you have a sick pet, you'd pay anything to make them well again, but unfortunately I think some vets can take advantage of that.

Well we're back from the vets and Melman has had his manicure. It took my OH and hour and quite a few bites before he caught him with a small cloth and transfered him into the smaller cage. Poor little birdie looked like he was gonna have a heart attack It took 2 mins to transfer Marge and she was eating millet from my hand straight away! The vet took them to a bird room with a red light to catch him and trim his nails but said he had to cauterize them as they bled quite badly He's now really really sleepy, so I've left them in the smaller cage and covered it with a sheet to let him rest for a while. It's been a very scary day for him.. and me! Not sure if I should try and move them back to their normal cage yet or leave them alone til tomorrow..?

nettles - just read your thread and I'm glad you got the vet and your husband to do the catching. They can tell the difference between people, so he still has you as someone he can trust. He may be a bit cautious at first, but he will come round to you again at least.
About the silly names - I don't know what melman means.. but back when I was a teenager I inherited a budgie that my grandma had named. It was called Bimbo. Oh my gosh.. imagine mine and my mothers embarrassment over trying to explain to anyone that he was called Bimbo. To grandma that was 93 when she died Bimbo had meant something entirely different in her day and age and she even taught him a little song to sing that went something like "Bimbo bimbo does your mother know.. you're off to see your girly-o.." I don't remember the rest of the song, but my mum tried SO hard to talk grandma out of naming him that but she was determined and ignored mums wishes. Then we got him living at our house... lololol

He's eating millet that's hanging in the cage at the minute so he must have calmed down a bit.. Thankfully! When I was a kid, our neighbour had a dog called Bimbo.. which was a male too if i remember rightly. Either way, it's a highly inappropriate name for any pet lol. I don't think Melman means anything.. it's just a daft name for a budgie lol.
