Errm...silly question but how does Luee sound when he/she sings? As females tend to be a bit more screechy instead of warbly when they sing - if that's any help?! Definitely gorgeous and a flirt too

I don't know if it is relevant but Luee looks the larger of the two. In the animal kingdom a lot of females are larger than the males.

Unfortunately with budgies there are huge variations in sizes from breeder to breeder, so the size thing isn't really relevant, OP.

Interesting point, Sam, as Luee's voice is more 'creaky' than the others. Charlie is the virtuoso and he has influenced both Berry's and Woody's way of singing, but not really Luee.
OP, Luee is big - 55g but he/she is a very different build from the others - just breeding I guess. He/she can move fast, but is generally quite slow and cautious. I have noticed him getting better at jumping between perches a bit more - he used always to put his beak on the perch then clamber.
Re temperament - definitely a flirt - but also very placid and not at all irritable or dominant like a lot of hens are. For example, Berry always finishes eating before Luee and runs off and tries to get Luee's attention (he wants to be fed) while Luee is still eating. He'll sit at his back giving him little headbuts, and Luee just reacts by turning round and saying something like "Now, now - bide your time!".
From feedback (but still waiting for BB's opinion) I am beginning to think that Luee is unusual to divide opinion of our forum experts so much.
The main thing is that I need to decide whether I can ever aim to have them all together. Judging by Woody's vigour, if Luee is a girl then he would try it on, and I don't want to get into that.
Just another question, do female budgies lay eggs only if they have a nest box? Or have I heard that there can be eggs on the floor of the cage?

Misty is an oddity as well - Barrie's view was a "little girl trying to be a little boy"!!

Female budgies aren't usually silly enough to lay eggs without a nest box. It's cockateils that will do that

OK guys, I guess it's time to sort it out Let's talk about the normal circumstances first. The first thing to clarify about Luee's gender is, whether or not Luee had brown cere any time in his life. If yes, it would make Luee a female regardless of what cere color we are looking at in these pictures. The second thing we have to clarify if Luee is one of "pink male cere" mutations or not. For a budgie to have a "pink male cere" throughout his life, he has to be some type of "Ino" or "Recessive Pied". Lutinos (all yellow Inos) will have dark red eyes with irises. Is this the case here? Recessive Pieds will have drak plump eyes with no irises. Is this the case here? Look at the pictures and tell me what do you see

birdguhl , I see some white in the head feathers here. Do you see any white in the wing markers? Can you post a clear close up of wings?
