Thanks, BB! Okay, I will try to be a good learner here and answer the questions: OK guys, I guess it's time to sort it out Let's talk about the normal circumstances first. The first thing to clarify about Luee's gender is, whether or not Luee had brown cere any time in his life. If yes, it would make Luee a female regardless of what cere color we are looking at in these pictures. I am pretty certain that Luee has never had a brown cere in the time he has been with me, which is about 9 months now. That would surely be long enough for there to have been a 'cycle'?The second thing we have to clarify if Luee is one of "pink male cere" mutations or not. For a budgie to have a "pink male cere" throughout his life, he has to be some type of "Ino" or "Recessive Pied". Lutinos (all yellow Inos) will have dark red eyes with irises. Is this the case here? I don't think Luee has red eyes, but if they can be dark red, could they actually look like normal eyes? He does have irises.Recessive Pieds will have drak plump eyes with no irises. Is this the case here?
Since he does have irises, this does not seem to apply. Look at the pictures and tell me what do you see
As for white in the wing markers... I confess I don't know what wing markers are. Are they the very edges of the long feathers?I will take some pictures of his wings tomorrow, and shed feathers as well.

Sooooo, if I am understanding this correctly BudgiesBuddy - do we have a Double Factor yellow as Luee has no plum eyes or black eyes without iris? Am still confused spill your wealth of knowledge BB, spill! You are right about Double Factor Spangles Sam A Double Factor Spangle male will have black eyes with irises and blue cere like normal budgies. But Luee has a pink cere.

Getting clear pictures of Luee's wings has been a tough assignment. Apart from having to take photos through the bars, his colour means that the light burns out the detail quite readily. Hopefully these will be useful though: Good work I am trying to find out if Luee has these similar markings on the wings.

You can see the white in wing right between the beak and purple ring.

1: If Luee has never had a brown cere in the last year or so, it would make him a male. 2: Some Lutinos have darker eyes than others. Here is the variation. 3: That's right, Luee cannot be a Recessive Pied, as he has irises.

Therefore Luee is a lutino with very dark red eyes which appear black...?
Unless, tomorrow he starts to develop a brown cere and proves me wrong!

But here I also think that Luee is a Lutino male, because as Double Factor Spangle male, he should look like this.

Luee has a pink cere. Also if Luee had grey feet, it would make him a Double Factor Spangle, which doesn't seem the case here.

Looks like I named him right after all!!! (At the time I got him I thought every all-yellow budgie was a lutino. How much I have learned since then!)
Does the fact that Luee has pink feet also point to him being a lutino as I notice the two you posted above also have pink feet?
If I could get the info from his ring, might this be an indication too? Or is it likely that he would have been ringed before his sex was clear?
