Hi, hopefully he will improve soon - least what he has has been identified so that the vet can escalate things if he does not react. I was wondering - do you have him separated from your other budgies? Once one stands in the infected poop somewhere then cleans his feet bacteria stuff tends to infect the whole flock. Also, make sure your water containers have no biofilms building up on the inside. Bacteria love to thrive in those.

Hi sweet pea, I feel like we're facing the same thing at the moment. Our bud Maggie, has appeared to have a respiratory infection, the first lot of antibiotics were by beak, and seemed to have a bit of an effect, then she went backwards, so second lot which is sprinkling over food, and some in their water, hasn't really made a difference at all. In fact yesterday and today, she's fluffed up and head in shoulders more than ever. I have to admit due to some rubbish delivery companies and a bit of scepticism on our part, we've been a bit slow to change quite a few bits the vet said to do, I.e their food to pellets, we've struggled to find the lamp that fits our uv bulb, but that's coming Monday. I just wondered if to insist vet does lab tests but if it's respiratory, can they do that? Or just if it's bacterial? My partner isn't feeling that much confidence as vets hasn't made much difference and with the last lot sprinkling over food, he wasn't convinced how much meds she's actually been getting .... But I can't watch her just sitting there seemingly getting more poorly .... Hi there. I read your other thread & it sounds like your Maggie is improving, which is very good news. It's so worrying when they are not well. It's good when you get to a point when you can actually do something to help, rather than watch helplessly.

Initially, he did tell me to put him in a separate cage but *only* if he wasn't stressed by that. In the end, Thomas lasted an afternoon in the spare cage but come bedtime he got very restless so I let him go back with Phineas. My vet knows my set up & has not said Thomas should be separated & he knows that Phineas has also been having whatever medication that has been going in the water. Good point about the water containers. I clean mine every day but notice with meds they can get extra slimey.

Unfortunately there has been a delay getting the "drugs" for Thomas but hopefully they will be available tomorrow.
No change in Thomas. He's still a bit lethargic. His poops are still bad but he is eating & drinking & does venture out of his cage for a change of scenery.

Hopefully you have the drugs by now and Thomas is heading down the recovery road. Only positive vibes heading your way.

Fingers crossed for Thomas to make a full recovery, I bet Phinny is finding it difficult if he isn't interacting as much as he should? After all, I think Thomas is Phinny's mentor
