Bonding or Breeding?
I have a new home with a beautiful new cage. I am a lucky budgie, I have a new mum that feeds me lots of goodies and she gives me plenty of toys to keep me happy. Mum those plastic perches do hurt my little feet, can I not have wooden ones please. I do know that willow and apple branches are good for my feet.
My mum stops to talk to me every time she passes my cage, thanks mum, and I do love socialising. I almost forgot mum can you leave the radio on when you go out, we budgies do like company.
Now I see a great big millet spray in mums fingers, will she eat it all, hang on I thinks it is for me. Step my mum says as she wiggles this big millet spray, step, I will do somersaults for a great big millet spray.
Well here we are two weeks in the new home and mum wants to bond with me. Lots of eye contact happening now, plenty of winking and a little blinking. Is mum a budgie cos that is what we do.
Now we are in a kiss kiss mode give mum kisses is all I get all day and the way she purses her lips tells me she wants to regurgitate, I knew it mum wants to bond a little more. Will we breed and have babies?
Now I am having a kiss, a wink and mum is now stroking my head, this is budgie bonding at its best, she wants to breed, and I knew it would happen.
But I have no nest what will I do, I know I can lay my eggs on this sharp horrid sandpaper on my cage floor.
I can hear mum complaining about my big poos why I do not know, thats what we do mum before we lay eggs.
Here we are me and my mum, that sounds silly, my mum when we are really a bonded couple who are going to have some little chicks.
Wow that hurt and I have more of those big white eggs to lay BUT why is she throwing my eggs away?
I hope she gets some advice cos one of us has got this bonding bit wrong.
Could you be bonding and bringing your budgie into breeding condition, I think you are.
