Ive been using a tiny bit of olive oil on his paintbrush and it is looking so much better, i have a phobia about using vaseline Marianne incase i block the nares, my hand isnt that steady . Water dish in room as we speak sam, i forgot about that one .

No worries. Don't use it if you're worried

Do you have a thermometer with an indicator of humidity? I had a similar problem with my girl Emerald. I took her to the vet because I had studied in horticulture and learned too much about pesticides. I hate the effects these things have on the nervous system. Turned out she was ok. It is a big stress to go to the vet though.
Sorry I didn't read all the posts so this may be redundant. I'm a bit tired today.

I hated doing it Phoebe, i cant stand using chemicals on them but i had to be sure before he went with the others. He has been scratching his neck all day , it must be irritating him. No i dont have any humidity reading on my thermometer but ive placed water dishes around the room.

I feel it is simply an adjustment period for him, Skysmum. Even if the little guy was kept inside etc, the air is bound to be different in each house - everyone has their central heating or whatever tuned to a different level and different houses have and retain different levels of moisture etc etc. I am sure he is fine.

Just wanted to show you the inexpensive thermometer I have. I had thought that measuring the humidity would be harder than this but for very little money you can get one of these. You will notice that my place is pretty humid. I have to open windows when I cook.

To me it looks a little better, but you have made his head about 5x bigger than it really is, so everything else is magnified as well, including the line where beak and cere meet. Theone thing it does show is absolutely no sign of scaly mites.
