Scaly face . I can hardly see this with the naked eye and am sure it didn't look like this last week. My glasses and a close up pic have revealed what i suspect is scaly face. Ive never had a bud with this before so cant be sure. What do you think guys. Spot on is on order just incase .

I don't think it is. Just looks a little dry, but treating with spot on will do no harm anyway.

You don't know how relieved that makes me feel, as you say i will treat him anyway just incase, thanks marianne. I wonder if its the central heating that's drying him out a little and i can honestly say i have not seen him drink since ive had him, im sure he must be though . Will give him a mist tomorrow too.

skysmum Yes that makes me feel better too! It could be the heat though yeah. We are also heating with air condition during the day since it got cooler a lot even in L.A. BTW. I did not see FinFin drink the first 2 days, I mean absolutely nothing. Because he was sitting the whole day on one perch and did not move. Maybe he did in the night, but wasn't sure. But then after 3-4 days I saw him going down to his food and water dishes and he finally drank. But still like you can see he has a dry beak. Hmmm I need to find out where I can get this spot on, maybe I do it also even if it's nothing to worry about.

The only problem I can see is that at least FinFin is afraid of new things that come into the cage. Even if I hold them in my hand. So before I would do it, I would slowly move the pipette in the cage hold it still and take it out again so long, until he doesn't mind anymore. Since he loves to be stroked on his head, it may work then to drop the medication on his neck. Maybe you do it the same way then with Chilli! BTW. I think they ship it from the UK right? I only found a shop that ships from UK, I don't know how long it takes to come to L.A. Edit: ouch amazon says it takes up to 19-26 days for shipment... that is too long..

The trouble is it has to go directly onto the skin, i thought the same though, being a pipette i could sort of burrow it down as if i were preening him then just squeeze . Ive ordered mine from NorthanParrots they are great and very quick, not sure if they ship though or how long it would take, i can recommend them though.

I agree with Marianne, for what it's worth. Remember also, Skysmum, a preventive dose for the others is recommended as well.
As for administering the drop, much easier with two people - one to hold and part feathers and the other to drop the drop. The drop must go directly onto the skin.

Well that was stressful , although the general feeling is that Chilli does not have scaly face and it is looking sooo different to when i posted the pic, ive given him treatment anyway. We are still friends and he still hops onto my finger so no damage done, just a rather greasy looking neck . I held and OH did the deed straight onto the skin at back of head. Job done . Oh and ive still got my fingers, he didn't attempt to bite once love him .

You could try putting a little vaseline on the bottom of his cere, avoiding the nares of course.
See if the dryness clears up.

And if it is a little dry in the room skysmum are you able to put in a dish of water to humidify the room a bit? As long as the buds don't bathe in it all the time
