Can she be handled?
If so you could try some savlon to sooth the bottom of her feet?

I haven't tried to handle her but she flaps around the cage when I change her seed so probably not. I use Sudocrem on my animals, if I can get hold of her I will put some on.

All done, bloody bites though. Ouch. I would say, quick and painless but it wasn't for me.

A bit late now, bit maybe you could have put a bit on a perch for a day or so, perhaps. Not enough for them to start eating.

I think I'll do that tomorrow, save my fingers. Got 2 sore lumps on my fingers now. think I need some cream on them.

That is better news than expected, SQ. Poor birds, too many things going on for them. But I am sure you will have them sorted in no time. Just hope you have caught the redness before it has developed into bumblefoot; I haven't had that pleasure, but sounds like a bitch to cure. Cotton rope perches can help there, too, I understand. But it is good that Opal doesn't have a dodgey claw, simply needs to re-learn how to use his feet.

The best way to cure it is to remove the scab/dead skin and clean out the puss underneath then give antibiotics. Bumble foot is so hard to cure as the infection is encapsulated and walled off by the body so antibiotics can't get to it. Both my chook and conure were cured in no time. We have a farm vet who deals with this kind of thing all the time and sorted out my birds.

Checked Citrines feet and the redness has gone. She seems much happier too, actually jumping around the cage and trying to tip her water bowl off the side. She has been chirping too and sitting better on the perch rather than laying. Still not sitting perfectly but so much better. I thought she was ill when I got her because of the way she sat and because she was so quiet.

She is going from strength to strength. preening and singing, if that's what you call it, but she sleeps hanging in the corner of the cage. I wonder if she has got used to doing that to take the pressure off her sore feet. She will have to get used to perches when she goes into the aviary.
Opals toe that stuck out the back and didn't seem to bend now has a slight bend, it's curling more toward the perch. The other toe that should be at the back but she brings to the front is spending some time at the back but I don't know if she did that already, will have to give that more time.
